The Star Benetti Yacht Showcasing Affinity Diamonds

The Star Benetti Yacht Showcasing Affinity Diamonds

When passion drives the work that you do, working weekends is something that you look forward to.

At Don de L’Amour, our weekend projects are the most exciting ones. Usually, a brand activation, a birthday or a wedding, these projects are the ones that we have the most creative control over and can execute with our full brand vision in mind. We thoroughly enjoy these projects where our passion for the work that we do shines through.

This past weekend we had an incredible opportunity to work closely with Affinity Diamonds to design a tablescape and decorate all three levels of The Star Sydney’s luxury Benetti Yacht with perfumed roses and delicate sweet peas

When styling and using florals alongside a subject as exquisite as diamonds and jewellery, we focus on simplicity. The aim with the floral arrangements was to create an environment that is subtle on the eyes and worked as a complement to the diamonds. Coming down to the finer details, we were meticulous in creating an authentic garden aesthetic with the use of our signature greenery such as climbing devil’s ivy and trailing jasmine, which added another dimension of scent and organic textures to the showroom.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Sam and Isabella at Affinity Diamonds who was also accompanied by the company’s brand ambassador and former Miss World Australia, Erin Holland. We felt the strong synergy between our brands and look forward to working on the next project with the team.

The Mayflower Cafe in Sydney has officially launched

The Mayflower Cafe in Sydney has officially launched

Situated in the heart of Darlinghurst was once a renowned Art Deco Florist in the 90s. Now with the help of a strong team of designers, creatives and tradesmen, the space has been transformed into The Mayflower, a lush cafe serving the finest selection of quality coffee and caviar.

At Don de L’Amour we had the opportunity to be part of this transformational project, working with carefully selected preserved floral varieties to uplift the space and provide a unique experience to The Mayflower customers and patrons. Across the two-level cafe, we worked to produce five floral installations over three weeks. With our continuous efforts to remain as environmentally-friendly as possible, we intentionally constructed each installation using wire and free from any use of floral foam.

The process began in the middle of May where we sourced over 250 bunches of fresh Amaranthus. We prepared and conditioned each stem to begin the preservation process, which required over three weeks to complete. Although labour-intensive, this process was but absolutely necessary to ensure that the flowers were preserved with the utmost quality. In addition to the use of Amaranthus, we incorporated asparagus fern, and native templetonia.

With a background in art and fashion, you’ll often see the use of mixed medium within our designs. We drew inspiration from textiles present with coffee and the sea when we incorporated natural hessian fabric and rope throughout all abstract floral sculptures.

Layers were suspended from the ceiling in waves, pouring out from the florals and weaved throughout the cafe.

The Star Casino - International Women's Day

The Star Casino - International Women's Day

In celebration of International Women's Day, we designed and set up florals for this morning's luncheon event held at Sokyo for The Star Sydney's Sovereign guests.

All elements in the design were composed of real flowers and fruit. There is no artificial preservation within the design.

In a conscious effort to make environmentally friendly choices, we have used water vials instead of harmful floral foam.

Apart from this, an interactive experience was created for the luncheon tables. As guests were seated at the tables, they were greeted with woven baskets at the centre of each table, each overflowing with fresh florals amongst juicy pomegranates, trailing grapes, fresh figs and whole almonds.
